There are many things in life that I will never understand. The amount of things that I don't understand has increased significantly since I became a mother and began to watch my kid's choices and preferences as they got older. I couldn't understand why my daughter wanted to wear such an ugly shirt with pants that clearly didn't match it, and I definitely couldn't understand it when my junior high aged son came home wanting to get his ears pierced. Being a mother definitely adds mystery to my life. Up until recently, the fact that all kids seemed to love skateboards was a mystery to me. I began to recognize the phenomenon of skateboards when my own three children asked for them for Christmas a few years ago. I thought it was strange that they all wanted the same thing, yet when I asked them about it they said that literally everybody they knew was asking for skateboards that year. So my husband and I went out after researching the best skateboards for their ages and novice abilities, and we purchased three skateboards to place under the tree on Christmas morning. From the moment our children opened their skateboards they were hooked. They haven't stopped using their skateboards almost daily even still, three years later. It is by far the most loved and best used gifts we have ever purchased for them. Since that Christmas day I have spent countless hours at our local skateboarding park watching my children play with their friends on skateboards. Usually I bring a blanket and a good book and enjoy a morning at the park while I watch. I'm so intrigued by the whole place, however, that I rarely get a chapter read. I've learned that kids love skateboards because they love the freedom, the adventure and the risk that skateboards give. In small proportions, kids love the thrill that skateboards allow them to have. They love learning a new trick or showing off a skill for their friends. I've learned that skateboarding is a healthy way for kids to burn energy and to learn how to relate with other kids. A skateboarding park is quite a social gathering place, and I am thankful that my children are learning to relate with all kinds of people simply because of their skateboards. So parents, take my advice. If your child wants a skateboard, be the first to encourage them. Yes, it is risky and hence there is potential danger involved, but it is a healthy way to let your children experiment with adventure and learn to make friends in the process.

Allen iverson s exclusion from the dream team is a clear mistake
I considered it insulting and inexplicable when I heard that Allen Iverson got left out of the Dream Team by Jerry Colangelo. The executive and managing director of the United States Men's National Team made a sure mistake when he decided not to ask Iverson to the tryouts in Las Vegas this summer. The Dream team has not been giving out its best results since 2004 but then again the U. S. wasn't represented by its best talent in Athens or Indianapolis if you don’t send the best you’ve got don’t expect the best results. But this time the nation’s superstars where standing in line to represent the country and bring back some glory. The selection committee chose seven of the eight leading scorers in the NBA, but they left Iverson behind. Colangelo said it was because the team needed distributors. Iverson's age has also been used as an excuse and not a exactly a bad one when you think that Iverson will be 33 when the Beijing Olympics are played outside 2008, but Bruce Bowen will be 37, Chauncey Billups and Antawn Jamison will be 32, so for the others age isn't a legitimate argument to keep him out. Plus, Iverson has yet to slow down. Iverson is not without his flaws, but he is one of just two NBA players -- along with Dwyane Wade -- who rank in the top 10 in scoring and assists. Kobe Bryant, the league's leading scorer, ranks 28th in assists. This team is talented enough to win with or without Iverson, but he should've at least been given the opportunity to compete. If he misses out on making the final roster of 12, then fine. But Iverson has earned the right to be there, not only because of his past with USA Basketball but because he remains at the top of his game although he's a few months shy of his 31st birthday. He deserved better.
Discover model trains
Model train manufacturers have done a great job of recreating life size trains as realistic models. And they’ve been doing it since the late 19th century when electric model trains first appeared. Take a moment to discover the magic of model trains. Germany is where it all began when Marklin introduced their full line of model trains back in 1891. Their first trains were based on earlier toy models and were available in three scales. They were made from tin and were very crude, but they were a great success. Then, in 1901, Joshua Cowen entered the market with Lionel trains. Lionel would soon come to dominate the model train market in America. Of course there were other companies that came on board with their own lines of model trains. Ives, American Flyer, and Marx all introduced model trains. Because model trains are so interactive they are a great choice for children and adults. Even the youngest children can enjoy them. It’s not uncommon for adults to recall their first train when talking about their fondest childhood memories. Lionel was quick to recognize the importance of starting train collectors at a young age and that’s why they’ve got wooden train sets for ages 4 to 6. By the age of 8, kids are ready to be introduced to S scale, G scale, and the ever popular HO scale electric trains. And the hobby continues into adult life. Of course expanding on your model trains is just a matter of time, money, creativity, and space. There are several different scales of model trains to choose from to fit your space, budget, and personal preferences. For example, if you are limited by space you can choose one of the smaller scales. Here are some of the most popular scale choices you have. 1. Z Scale is a 1:220 ratio. It is tiny and highly detailed, and is an excellent choice if you have limited space. 2. N Scale is a 1:160 ratio. It is the second smallest scale available and it’s a great choice for the hobbyist that want to be able to incorporate scenery and longer trains. 3. HO Scale is a 1:87 ratio. It is probably the most popular scale of model train. There is an endless supply of trains, cars, tracks, buildings, and scenery. The detail on HO is good and a fabulous setup can be put together in a reasonable amount of space. 4. S Scale is a 1:64 ratio. It is larger than the HO and is popular among those with plenty of room. It is the scale of American Flyer products. 5. O Scale is a 1:48 ratio. It is a popular choice for young children because they are able to easily handle them. Lionel carries a full line of O scale for the young ones. 6. G Scale is a 1:22.5 ratio. It is the perfect choice for the garden set up. Bachmann, L. G.B, and Aristo-Craft all make G scale trains. To put together your model train you will need at least one engine along with some train cars. You can decide whether you want passenger cars or freight cars. And of course you will need train track. The type of track and how much track you’ll need is a personal choice. You’ll also need a transformer to provide the electricity to your train. Then all that’s left is the scenery you want. Choose trees, tunnels, people, signals, or a host of other items. If you are looking for a fun and rewarding hobby, why not discover the magic of model trains?

7 Grilling tips beyond the summer months
Grilling is fun to do all summer long. You love to get out there and soak in the sun while making some great tasting food in the process. But, for many, as soon as the leaves begin to fall, it's time to pack up the grill until next year. Why do this when this tool can be used all year round to produce wonderful, and healthy foods? Here are 7 things you need to know about grilling. 1. It happens all year round. Face it; there is no real reason to put the grill away. Do you have a covered patio or a spot in the garage to set it up? If so, then do so. Keep the tank full and grill away. The grill will supply you with heat if it is really cold outside. 2. The flavor can be even better. throughout the winter season, many people eat more hearty foods. And, because of this, it can often be duller tasting foods. If you love the taste of flamed cooked foods, youll love them even more during the winter season. 3. CautionCaution. You should keep the lid of the grill blocking any fierce wind that is coming in. And, you should always keep the top of the grilled closed to insure a clean location to cook. Just as you would within the duration of the summer season, make sure to keep the grill clean and well stocked to insure that when you want to grill it's available to you. 4. Winter Veggies. Winter time vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, squashes and others are fantastic on the grill. Take a few moments to clean and prep them, cover with olive oil or a light spray of butter and grill away. This is a great way to affordably eat in season veggies with the taste of the grill on them. 5. Potatoes on the grill. One of the most eaten foods during cold winter time cycles are potatoes. If you love them, make them and cook them on your grill. Cut up and place inside of a tin foil wrapper, season and grill till you get blue in the face. 6. Smoke Away. Smoking ribs or steaks on the grill throughout winter is an astronomical way to enhance their flavor. Just keep the lid at a low level and regulate the temperature. There is no reason not to love it. In fact, when Super Bowl Sunday roles around, your place will be the place to be to enjoy superior foods. 7. Fruits And Dessert. Fruits on the grill make a top notch dessert too. What a better way to get in some healthy foods that are full of flavor? Just slice, coat with a little butter and grill away. Grilling throughout the winter or fall season does mean that you should take supplementary precautions. Youll want to insure that everything remains clean and if possible store the grill in the garage or other indoor area too keep from debris blowing in. And, when you do cook out there, be careful not to burn yourself as well. Other than that, there is no decent rationale why your grill should not be burning today.
My top baseball teams of all time in no particular order part one
I have a great amount of respect for the top teams of baseball. Being able to excel at a very high level is what I love about what some of these teams accomplished. 1902 Pittsburgh Pirates They had a record of 103 Wins and 36 Losses and won the Pennant by 27.5 games. They scored 775 runs and allowed 440 runs. The Pirates had five pitchers with 15 wins and eras of under 2.55. They were Jack Chesbro, Deacon Phillippe, Sam Leever, Jesse Tannenbill and Ed Doheny. Luckily for any opponent there was no World Series in 1902. 1903 Boston Pilgrims (Red Sox) Captured the pennant by 14.5 games and won the World Series over a great Pittsburgh team five games to three. Had three twenty game winners, led by Cy Young. 1905 New York Giants Record of 105 Wins and 48 Losses, Won World Series beating The Philadelphia A’s in five games. They scored 780 runs and gave up 505 runs. Had five pitchers with 15 at least 15 wins led by Hall of Famers Christy Mathewson and Joe McGinnity. Christy Mathewson won three World Series games. All three were shutouts. He pitched on October 9, 12, and 14th and gave a total of 14 hits and one walk in 27 innings. One of the greatest World Series pitching performances of all time by Mr Mathewson. 1927 New York Yankees With a 110 and 44 record they won the pennant by 19 games and beat the Pirates 4-0 in the World Series. They scored 975 runs and allowed 599 runs. They numbered six future Hall of Fame players: Ruth, Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earl Coombs, Waite Hoyt and Herb Pennock. All three outfielders batted at least 337. They were Ruth, Combs and Bob Meusel. 1929 Philadelphia A’s Won pennant by 19 games. Outscoring their opposition 901 to 615. Winning 104 games and losing 46 established themselves as one of the great teams. Won World Series 4-1 over the Cubs. Had five future Hall of Famers. They were Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove and Eddie Collins. 1932 New York Yankees Won the pennant by 13 games, outscoring their opponents 1002 runs to 724 runs. Their starting lineup (excluding pitchers), had six future Hall of Famers and two All Stars. Hall of Famers are Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Joe Sewell and Earle Coombs. All Stars were Frank Crosetti and Ben Chapman. Their entire team of positional players had either All Stars or Hall of Famers. The pitching staff had three future Hall of Famers. Herb Pennock, Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing. Won World Series over the Cubs 4 games to none. 1934 St Louis Cardinals Won the World Series 4 games to 3 over a great Tiger team. Five future Hall of Famers on the team. Check out this group. Dizzy Dean, Dazzy Vance, Frankie Frisch, Leo Durocher and Joe Medwick. 1936 New York Yankees Scored 1065 runs and allowed 731. Won pennant by 19.5 games and beat the NY Giants 4 games to 2 in the World Series. They had five players with at least 100 RBIs led by Lou Gehrig with 152. Joe DiMaggio had 125 and was followed by Bill Dickey with 109 RBIs. Tony Lazzeri and George Selkirk were tied with 107 RBIs. Six players batted over 300 and no regular had an average of less than 287. Six pitchers with at least 12 wins. I had some great teams in this list. Wait till you see part two. Feel Free to pass this article on to the people in your life you care about.

Little league baseball bats make your kid swing like a pro
Different leagues have different standards for baseball bats. Professional, adult leagues (the ones that hope to make it to the World Series) require classic, wooden baseball bats. But Amateur leagues allow for lighter, more powerful metal bats. When it comes down to equipping your child with the best bat they can possibly get, it takes more than just buying him any ordinary bat. Furthermore, in high school leagues, baseball bats must be more than 67 millimeters in diameter, so it's only suiting that the requirements for Little League baseball bats are just as stringent! This is no surprise considering the difference in size between adolescents, adults and children. The following requirements are typical and good to know if your son or daughter is thinking about joining a league and baseball bat shopping might be on the horizon. Little League baseball bats cannot be more than 33 inches long or have a barrel diameter of more than 2 ј inches. Also, they must be taped around the handle. To understand how much a bat weighs, look at the negative number that it is associated with. If a baseball bat is 30 inches long and its number rating is -10, that means the bat weighs 20 ounces. Lighter Little League baseball bats are more powerful than heavier ones (and also will hurt a child a lot less if it accidentally hits them in the head, which is a good thing since there is no crying in baseball!), but they are also more expensive. The surefire way to zero in on the perfect little League Baseball bat for your child is to make some test swings before uou head to the counter.

How to keep food fresh naturally
How many times have we brought food and then forgotten about it only to remember it because it begins to stink? Against this, you cannot do anything, but you can ensure that your food lasts longer and keeps fresh. How? There are many things you can do, such as regularly clean your refrigerator and regularly check the food in there and also that you keep in the cupboards or anywhere else. But its not just about checking them. This cannot prevent anything. All you will be doing is throwing away food items before they stink up the entire kitchen. So, what can you do to keep the food fresh? Practical List of Tips for Ensuring Food is Cleaner and Fresher: 1) Spread some cloves on and around the marble surface of your kitchen, and also spread some cloves under the sink. Why? The Cloves keeps ants away. 2) Place some bay leaves inside your bags of dough, rice and the rest of the packs that insects prefer. Why? Bay leaves keep insects and other such lice away from food products. By placing bay leaves inside the packets, we ensure that insects do not reside there. But please remember to change the bay leaves once every three months. 3) Place half a potato in the refrigerator. Why? If there is any kind of bad smell from food or cooked items, the half potato will absorb it. To make sure that this works, remember to exchange the potato every three days. 4) Store eggs with the pointed side down. Why? Storing eggs with the pointed side down keeps them fresh for a longer period. 5) Place a few cubes of sugar in the jar where you store American cheese. Why? When you place two or three cubes of sugar with the American cheese in an air tight jar, the sugar absorbs the moisture and prevents the cheese from getting bad. 6) Do not store tomatoes and cucumbers in the same draw. Why? Tomatoes give out gases that cause cucumbers to rot faster so make sure that you keep these two apart. 7) Do not store apples along with the rest of the fruits and vegetables. Why? Apples give out certain gases that cause fruits and vegetables to rot. 8) Place slices of apples or raw potatoes in the bread compartment or jar. Why? By adding a few slices of raw potatoes or apples with the bread, you ensure that the bread remains fresh for longer than usual. 9) Store radish in a vessel along with some water. Why? You should store radish in a vessel along with water because water will keep the radish fresh and crisp for a long time. For the same reason, if the radishes have shriveled, place them in a jar of cold water. Water will restore the radish to its previous splendor. Conclusion: Here, I have presented only a few of the more practical actions you should follow to ensure that the food you and your family consume remains fresh and tasty.

In the Europe most countries prefer hole game (players shoot marbles to the hole), in America and United Kingdom the game called Ringer is more popular (the object of the game is to shoot small marbles in the ring out of the ring by shooter, a bigger marble). Some countries play both, hole game and Ringer (e. g. Deutsches Murmelrat - the German marble federation - has four different games). Many marble tournaments are held in the Czech Republic. In 2002, 2003 and 2004 the Czech Marble Federation organised international tournament called Czech Open. One year later, in 23 - 24 July 2005, the first World Marbles Championship in individual hole game took place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. 2006 Minnesota twins preview
2005 Overview: The Minnesota Twins were able to provide fans with a respectable year by fielding essentially the same team it did to end the 2004 season. Minnesota finished the year 83-79 while compiling the 2nd best home record within the AL Central (2nd to only the World Series Champion White Sox) going 45-36 at the Metrodome. The power production from the Twins offense in 2005 was led by 1st baseman Justin Morneau (.239 22 79) and outfielder Jacque Jones (.249 23 73) while outfielders Shannon Stewart (.274 10 56), Torii Hunter (.269 14 56), 3rd baseman Michael Cuddyer (.263 12 42) and Catcher/DH Matthew LeCroy (.260 17 50) all combed to help keep the batting order stable. Unfortunately, Minnesota wasn’t able to find much quality starting pitching in 2005 with Johan Santana (16-7 2.87) and Carlos Silva (9-8 3.44) proving to be their most consistent starters. Pitcher Brad Radke (9-12 4.04) suffered a disappointing summer while starter Joe Mays(6-10 5.60) posted a dismal 1-7 record with a 8.22 ERA after the all star break. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse (9-13 4.18) also struggled to win games after the all star break, returning only 2 wins against 6 losses to end the season with a disappointing sub-five hundred performance. The bullpen had a few bright spots with Juan Rincon (6-6 2.45) appearing in 75 games, J. C. Romero (4-3 3.47) appearing in 68 and closer Joe Nathan (7-4 2.70) posting 43 saves in 48 save opportunities. Off Season Moves: The Twins have had a tough winter. Talks for Alfonso Soriano and several others at the GM meetings went nowhere so Minnesota settled by trading RHPs Travis Bowyer (5.59 ERA in 8 games) and Scott Tyler for second baseman Luis Castillo (.301 4 30). Castillo became available as part of the Marlins dismantling. The Twins also signed Rondell White (.313 12 53) to serve as a designated hitter/right fielder (taking Jacque Jones' spot) and added Tony Batista (.241 32 110 in 2004 with the Expos), after a full season in Japan, to assume duties at third base. 2006 Analysis: With the White Sox and Indians making moves to improve their rotation the Twins did little to improve their starting staff. The Twins are hoping that Johan Santana will repeat his 2005 effort and wouldn’t mind if he could pick up another 20 win season, like he did in 2004 – since every little bit will help. If Lohse can put together a better full season that should help take some of the strain off the rotation as well. The Twins need to be stronger in the infield and they are hoping the addition of Luis Castillo will help in that department. Rondell White is being expected to add a steady bat in the everyday lineup and it will be interesting to see how Tony Batista performs after missing a full year of major league pitching. Batista was a legitimate long ball threat during his last few years at Baltimore and Montreal – so his bat will be a welcome addition. Since the White Sox and Indians are fielding much deeper rotations, it will be very tough for the Twins to compete.

Caring for your foosball table
Ever feel like you need to clean your foosball table? Well, in actuality, you are supposed to keep up with maintenance for your table so your game won't be ruined. Here are some tips to help you correctly care for your foosball table. All game tables and game room furniture need some sort of upkeep. Even if it simply means dusting. For foosball cleaning purposes, it is recommended to use rubbing alcohol, 70% by volume. It evaporates and will not damage any components of the table. An easy way to use this is by pouring some into a spray bottle. This allows for even distribution on the area you're cleaning. Make sure you clean the table top and scrub away at any ball marks preferably once a week. A dirty table makes for poor play, so make sure you get into the corners and thoroughly wipe your table down. Also, if you clean the insides of the goals and ball return, it will in turn, help keep your balls clean. Since we're talking about the game balls, let's discuss how to clean those! A common method is to put them in the washing machine with a small load of non colored clothing. If you plan on doing this, make sure you don't wash them with anything that could cause lint build up. The purpose is to clean the balls, not layer on more dirt. Always make sure to wash or clean your balls with a non colored cloth. If you use a colored on, it will most likely alter the color of the balls. If you don't like the idea of placing them in the washer, you can simply clean them with the same rubbing alcohol you use for the table. Make sure to never scrape the balls as this will make them too slick to play with. If you need them to dry, always air dry them. DO NOT put them in the dryer! Last but not least, we have to talk about the rods. It is adviseable to clean your rods with a towel every week. This will help keep them slick enough to move freely. When the time comes to lube your rods, we suggest using a silicone lubrication. When using the silicone, you have to make sure you don't use too much. A little goes a long way! Make sure you don't get any on the table, handles, or the ball. This could completely ruin your game! When applying the silicone, make sure you slowly turn the rod as you apply. This will evenly spread the silicone over the rod. Most people tend to move the rods back and forth to spread the lubricant, but this actually causes the silicone to scrape off in the bearing. Basically, it would be a waste of time! Simply follow these tips and I guarantee you will have a clean foosball table that plays like new! If you need any other information about foosball tables or other game room games tables, please visit our website!
